  It was an early start, with a pick-up from our hotel. We had a group of 18 in a moderately comfortable mini-bus. Our driver, Grant, was friendly and kept up... read more a very interesting commentary. First stop: the ferry terminal at Kettering for coffee. The 'oohs' and 'aahs' began when we saw sailing boats mirrored in the blue water of the small harbour. Next, delicious local cheeses and fresh oysters, served on artisan bread, at the beach (where Captain Cook's Resolution watered in 1777). We had a short but steep walk up to the Bruny Island lighthouse, for a fascinating visit. The views from the top were fabulous! I am sad to say that lunch at the pub was disappointing. Grant had phoned ahead with our orders, so it was all ready for us, but I thought the fish was overcooked and dry. This was a shame, as everything else was very good. "Dessert" was a taste of fudge at a chocolate factory. The next chance to stretch our legs was climbing several hundred steps at the Isthmus with a lookout dedicated to Truganini - well worth the effort. The tour finished with a sampling of local honey and then we travelled back to Hobart via the ferry. Overall, a very good day in a beautiful setting.

It is clear that this tour operator has special business ties with many business on the island,... read more especially since the transition from one place to another was seamless, with everything for the tour group set up beforehand. A pity we did not get to see white wallabies, but heard that those are concentrated in a special sanctuary down south? Spotted tons of pademelons. Anyway our tour guide Nigel was very funny and provided interesting commentary. He was kind enough to help us save time by picking up our oyster orders while we were at the cheese factory. An unexpected surprise was the bruny Island hotel lunch, comparable to those good cafes on the mainland! But speaking of food, really felt the chocolate factory was not worth the time. Perhaps change the spot to another local food place? Agreed that all these can be visited by self drive but willing to pay for the convenience and expertise that come with this tour. Next time would like to try the overnight tour or one of the hiking ones.

  Words cannot possibly explain how incredible this tour is. A repeat offended, I'm already trying to figure out when I can get back again.
